‘Look at the ’undriveable' road he's suing me over': Neighbor roasted in the village group chat when he threatens to sue a homeowner over the "unplowed" private road in front of his house

This road is as icy as a beachside boardwalk in Florida on a hot summer's day. 

And yet a man down the road was too terrified to drive his car past a man's "unkempt" house. In his winter-driven rage, he stormed the guy's house at 6 AM on a Saturday and demanded he get up and out of his PJs to plow what looked like a perfectly winterized road. Although the homeowner's eyes were still half-dreaming, he was stunned by the outburst, turning to his local village group chat to make sure he hadn't missed something. 

The road didn't need to be plowed. There was no snow. Winter appeared to be over. But the man next door was so adamant about the civil disruption that he threatened to sue the neighbor over it. 

I understand that when you don't have the right equipment to drive on icy roads, it can be a little daunting and definitely scary, but this guy was completely delulu. I've never driven in the snow, nor would I ever take a risk on icy roads, but I can safely say that this road is entirely passable. You could drive a souped-up, low-suspension Subaru WRX with drift tires down this road. You could steer an Amish 4-horse carriage down this road. You could sprint full speed down this road with no fear of even the slightest slip. 

Everyone is at the end of their limit with winter this year, and everyone is dreaming of springtime bliss, but as the seasons hold out on us and continue to blizzard, it's important to keep your head on straight. Especially in a rural area where neighbors rely on neighbors for a quick tow, a borrowed snow shovel, or even a last-minute plow, burning bridges with the folks who could help out in a bind is never the answer. 

Luckily for this guy, it seems that his neighbors are in good spirits. Despite being thwarted and threatened by the empty lawsuits over snow-free roads, the whole neighborhood was able to laugh it off, counting down the days until the moment the sunshine would warm their world once more… In more ways than one.

  • Nope. It was my neighbor. He was furious because it had snowed overnight. He cleared the area in front of his property, but the "common road" section next to mine (starting where the yellow pavers are in the photo) wasn't cleared by me yet https://imgur.com/a/8Mt0cpO Keep in mind: It's a common road, and by law, I'm not even the one responsible for plowing it.

  • It's 6 AM. My kids and wife were terrified by the aggressive doorbell ringing. After I told him to leave, he took this photo, posted it in our village group chat, and announced he is suing me because the road is "impassable." Well, if he drives a Hot Wheels car it's definitely a challenge!

  • HelpfulPhrase5806 Laughs in Norwegian. That is cleared. According to our town, plowing starts when it reaches 5cm on highways, 10cm on the rest. Starts. Takes hours to do 200kms so you are lucky if it is that low at 6am. If you cant drive safely, dont drive. We only get roads this clear in march. Guess he would be cabin crazy after 3 months tho.

  • OP octo1310 Actually in Winter there were some really heavy snowfalls and I cleaned the road like three times a day, not because I cannot drive it myself, no problem with front driving wheels with winter tires, but just to avoid the scandal. Other neighbors are using this road too and of course they have no problems. But this time in late March it's just absurd.

  • OP octo1310 This neighbor is a massive guy, early 40s, easily 180cm tall, built like a healthy bull. Just a powerful strongman type. He can't afford winter tires sol guess this is the reason he is really afraid of snow. But the truth is public roads are not perfectly clean too, so I guess his life is hard.

  • OP octo1310 This is kind of a dramatic situation, I already answered that nobody replied, nor used any emotions, except one guy that asked us to go DM with this sh I have really good relations with all the neighbors (except this one of course), everyone sees this guy is in bad mental condition, but people are trying to keep a good yet distance relationship with him, they see what a bad relationship means in my example...

  • DewOnPine Make a note of it. Send an email documenting the incident to the resident organisation. Make a habit of documenting these incidences. It is for the future when he is going to snap and do something for which a police report will need to be filed. You can then quote all these emails describing his BS behaviour, supplemented with CCTV/doorcam footage. This guys sounds like a live grenade. Protect yourself, OP.

  • OP octo1310 In this subreddit there is a lot of exploding conflicts due to cameras. Crazy people often go mad when they see they are filmed. But I still installed two cameras, because maybe in the future I will need the proof of stalkering to protect my family. You see this snow issues it's just one case, with these awesome neighbors, it's an endless war. This guy makes a lot of different other things to make me angry and distract me and the family. Actually the reason why everything goes wrong
